From the author:

“I am well and truly entrenched in developing on the Microsoft platforms and have been for years. This is not due to loyalty or a love for Bill Gates, but at every point when we make a decision about investing time in learning something new, I always ask the question if the technology will still be there in 5 years time and if the skills I learn will actually be useful in future.

Sadly, while many open source frameworks are better at the time, they rarely last all that long and rarely provide solutions that will work for every scenario without costing me significantly more time. I made the decision to go with a company that will always be being paid to make my life easier both with asp 2.0 in the 90s and again with ASP.NET almost 10 years ago.  In the long run, I’ve never regretted those decisions, especially when the Microsoft frameworks catch up to the latest “fads” in web development.

That might sound ironic now that I’m using a php based blog, but reality is I’ll use whatever is needed to get the job done… and wordpress is what all the cool kids use.”
